It’s time to take that daring plunge. Rinse off the old and welcome the new with a Polar Bear Plunge! South Walton Fire District will hold its 10th Annual Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day at Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar.

Dive in and take a swim with the South Walton Fire District on New Year’s Day for a Polar Bear Plunge. Funds collected at the event will benefit community education and fire prevention activities such as free CPR courses and fire prevention materials.

The cost to take the plunge is $20 per person, children 12 years old and younger can participate for free. Event participants will receive a commemorative beach towel with their $20 registration fee. Funds raised at the event will benefit SWFD Community Education Programs.

If you can brave the chill, and want to make the plunge, on Monday, January 1 be at the Ed Walline Beach Access. In-person registration begins at 11 a.m., which will be followed by a costume contest at 12 p.m., and the Plunge itself at 1 p.m.
