A Chic Hello to the New Year

The final hours of 2015 are ticking down, which means the time we have to decide what to wear to ring in 2016 is dwindling. While we always feel obligated to greet the New Year in style, we also tend to leave our outfits to the last minute—which makes it imperative that we have a plan. Having a palette in mind when we head out to our favorite shops to find New Year’s Eve attire just hours before the ball drops vastly improves the odds that we’ll find the perfect pieces (like the Louboutins above, spotted on Charlotte-based stylist Erica Hanks’s Instagram). In anticipation of our inevitable eleventh-hour shopping, we’ve gone ahead and rounded up our favorite outfit inspiration from around the TSG network.

We’ve said it a million times: You simply cannot go wrong with black. On New Year’s Eve, a little black dress with an edge can set the perfect vibe. Oscar de la Renta’s ribbon skirt dress (above, left) and Kaufman Franco’s leather crystal-studded dress (above, right), both available from Marissa Collections in Naples, are both excellent frocks for New Year’s Eve festivities.

Sometimes you just need to deviate from the cocktail dress. We get it. In those instances, a beautifully cut black jumpsuit with clean lines is a great alternative. The above version by Diane von Furstenberg, available from Monkee’s of Charlotte, will be a go-to piece in any wardrobe. Just as necessary in any closet: A show-stopping jacket that will dress up anything, like the Lanvin faille sequin number show above, from Marissa Collections. Whether your New Year’s plans involve black tie or blue jeans, it’s the right piece. Finally, for when you need to arm yourself with a fabulous accessory, go with a crystal-adorned cuff. The one above is from Coral in Charlotte.

New Year’s Eve can be a good excuse to step outside of our all-black comfort zone. In which case, we can’t help but gravitate towards…white. Delpozo’s embellished velour dress, available from Capitol in Charlotte, is anything but vanilla with its blue, green, and black bib and metallic detailing. It would look absolutely stunning paired with a gorgeous gold bag, like the momo split crossbody bag from Charlottesville, Virginia’s Scarpa, and earrings with some movement and shine, like the Aurelie Bidermann Marella Earrings available from 20Twelve in Memphis.

Starting with a classic wardrobe staple like the stunning yet chameleon-like Elliatt distinct layering dress available from Cakewalk in Houston and then adding gorgeous elements is always a good strategy. Classic ankle strap sandals like the Tory Burch heel shown from Monkee’s of Charlotte provide a pretty foundation for adding more adventurous accessories like the ‘Flavia’ cheers! clutch from Hampden in Charleston or Fishtail Earrings by Lele Sadoughi from Greenville’s Augusta Twenty. If you prefer to exhibit your flair through footwear, richly hued shoes like the ‘Jewel Eden Hexagon’ pumps from Chicago’s Neapolitan Collection will do the trick. Happy shopping, and happy New Year!
