A Soirée to Celebrate Volume 6
To celebrate the launch of The Scout Guide Volume 6, our Members, their nearest + dearest, and loyal supporters of The Scout Guide gathered at OvenBird in Pepper Place for an evening celebration. The celebration was such a lovely way to toast a year’s worth of Scouting and kick off what is sure to be a fabulous year ahead.
Special thanks to our photographer Mary Fehr for capturing a special soirée in celebration of Volume 6. Ready to Meet The Scout Guide Volume 6 and get your hands on the Guide? Look no further…
Upon arrival at the lovely OvenBird, guests – including Volume 6 Members, a fellow TSG Editor, our guide photographers David Hillegas and Mary Margaret Smith, and family and friends – were treated to their first look at Volume 6 and a welcome cocktail. Traditionally, cover and stripe colors are kept under wraps, so it was rewarding to unveil and toast to our Spring-inspired color palette with a “Scout 75” by Bubbles & Brews.
Guests enjoyed two other signature cocktails: “Cheers to Six Years” featuring Rum, Cava Rose, Luxardo, Lime, and Mint, as well as “Gaucho” featuring Reposado Tequila, Yerba Mate, Creyente Mezcal, and lime. Of course, guests also sipped on a fabulous selection of wine and beer from OvenBird.
For appetizers, OvenBird whipped up delicious passed options of deviled eggs, boudin balls, and empanadas. The restaurant also delighted with charcuterie, hanger steak, and paella at the table.
Drinks in hand, guests perused the pages of Volume 6 while mingling with their fellow members. And, as guests added to their collection of Scout Guides via our signature Book Bar, local musician Lamont Landers serenaded.
The ambiance was bolstered by exquisite florals by Volume 6 Member, Kathleen Varner and a fabulous balloon installation from fellow Member, Celebrate. Not only did Kathleen Varner and Celebrate complement and capture our cover and stripe colors perfectly, but they also created a fabulous backdrop for impromptu photos.
Guests and Members took home more than memories and photos, however. In addition to a stockpile of Volume 6 Guides to share with family, friends, and clients, Members were gifted a personalized Guide hand-lettered by fellow Member, Bess Booth.
In short, it was an evening even a brief shower couldn’t spoil, and we won’t soon forget. Thank you so much to the talented locals who helped us organize this soirée, as well as The Atelier for outfitting Editor Rebecca Todd and The Collective for a party-perfect hair! We look forward to an equally wonderful year of celebrating Birmingham’s local businesses! To follow along, find us on Instagram at @TSGBirmingham.
