The future for Blair Sweeney of Blair’s Belts is exciting, to say the least. In addition to a baby boy due later this summer, Blair is also busy setting up her new digs at Sutherland Mill.  This location will house her office as well as a showroom to display her one-of-a-kind belts and more.

As a fashion merchandising major with a minor in business, Blair graduated from the University of Alabama in 2013. After working for Rebecca Taylor in New York and then for Spanx and Rebecca boutique in Atlanta, she decided to start Blair’s Belts after visiting an Atlanta manufacturer who made alligator skin belts. The business owner could only make a certain number of belts with each alligator skin so he had collected many unused scraps over the years. Blair had the idea to use those unused scraps for her belts, and Blair’s Belts was born.

Blair started the company in 2016 as a part-time venture but then decided to work it full-time in 2017. She began making stretch belts with alligator tabs from those unused scraps, which have been very popular with golfers. Since then, she has expanded her product line to include full-skin belts, bracelets, watch bands, wallets, dog collars, passport covers, air tag holders, hat bands, coasters, and more. Blair has one employee in addition to herself who is located in Atlanta. This employee handles the Atlanta showroom and all aspects of the business.

You can find all of Blair’s Belts’ products on the website and in her showroom, but Blair also has a few belts at the pro shop at Augusta Country Club  and “pops up” her products in a few retail stores in town. She has been featured in well-known magazines such as Vogue, Garden & Gun, and Golf Digest. In addition, she attends events and trunk shows all over the Southeast, colleges, smaller boutique stores and more.  She recently was at Wade Hampton Golf Club in the mountains of North Carolina working a two-day show. She loves to show her items at golf tournaments and charity events, too!

Another business niche is in groomsmen and bridesmaid gifts,  corporate gifts, tee gifts, swag bags and more. Any logo or monogram can be put on her belts and other products, which makes for a personal touch. Blair also carries a line of athletic wear that can also be customized.

Her love of the business is evident as she smiles when she talks about the past eight years in the business and where she is looking to grow in the future.  “I am so excited about this new space here in Augusta,” she says. “I want people to know that they can come in and see the products first hand in our showroom.” With a grand opening planned for the near future, the showroom is currently open with limited hours and appointments at 720 St. Sebastian Way, Suite 5A, 30901. As always, Blair recommends following Blair’s Belts on social media (Instagram @blairsbelts and website for more information and to check out the latest news.
