Moving to a new neighborhood before school starts? Here's Jillian's advice:
“Jillian! I just moved and my kids are starting school soon, help!”
Here is the Jillian Hogan Homes-approved Guide to a smooth transition this school year:
As summer real estate purchases wind down, families settle into their new homes and the school year approaches, many families find themselves juggling the excitement and stress of new routines, a new home and even a new school. As your trusted real estate advisor, I’m here with some great tips to get you ready for that first day of school:
Create a Designated Study Space
Having a specific area in your home for the kiddos to do their homework and study. Whether it’s a quiet corner in the living room or a dedicated desk in the bedroom, a well-organized study space is key to keeping your child engaged and concentrated in their work. Make sure they are free from distractions (like moving boxes to sift through 😉 ) and it is stocked with essential supplies.
Get to Know the Neighborhood Playgrounds, Parks, and Trails
It was a shock to me to see how many great playgrounds were available for my two little kids. I even found a park I had never heard of before! And that is hard for me to not know about a hidden gem around Alexandria. And trails could be helpful when your kids are walking back and forth to their friend’s house or to the Friday night football game at the High School.
Get Involved in Local Events
Look for back-to-school events for you and your family to attend. These gatherings are great opportunities to meet other parents and kids, learn more about the school(s), and integrate into your new community. Building these connections can add to the comfort and enjoyment of your new neighborhood!
Bonus Tip: Stay Updated with Real Estate Market Trends
As you settle into the school year, keep an eye on the real estate market. Understanding current trends can help you make informed decisions about potential renovations or investments in property improvements. And as you know, our team is always here to help provide further insight or advice.
Happy back-to-school season parents! Because let’s face it, we need this routine as much as the kids do – who knew summer vacation would be so much work?!
Til’ Next Time,
