Can you tell us about the history of your business and how it got started? What inspired you to start your business?

Real estate is a second career for me. I was a tax attorney for the Federal Government for many years prior to becoming a Realtor. I went part-time with the government after having my second child and got my license then. I  started off doing some real estate investing, worked with a few friends and neighbors and then it snowballed from there.

Favorite/most rewarding part about your business?

My favorite thing about working in this industry is the fact that I am able to have long standing relationships with my wonderful clients. I started my career working with many first-time homebuyers and in the 14 years of being in the business I now have worked with many of my clients multiple times. I’m now helping the parents of some clients move to Alexandria. I’m also helping their children buy their first place out of college.

List of favorites – One of the things I love about living and working in Alexandria is the amazing local business community. Many of my faves are owned by women.

  • Shops – It’s hard to pick my  favorite Alexandria shop since there are so many I love. Most of my wardrobe is either from the Hive, Bishop Boutique, Mint Condition or Current Boutique.
  • Hobby – I’m a hip-hop dance lover, so you can usually find me at a dance class in my spare time or I’m at Sculp’d on the reformer. I have been taking classes there for years and I actually just joined the Sculp’d squad as an instructor too!

The entire process of relocating from OH to FL and buying our first house was so much fun, so instead of pursuing a career in architecture I decided to pivot! I have a passion for all things residential, so I channel that by helping people find home (wherever that may be). I still get to utilize my design skills by helping my clients see the potential in homes we tour and staging their homes when it’s time to sell.

What is a typical day like for you?

I usually spend the morning reading a book (I’m an avid reader), then head to CrossFitMVA for my morning workout. The rest of the morning is spent catching up with clients, emails, and the market. My afternoons never look the same, but they usually consist of a second training session (I’m training for a triathlon currently), marketing, planning our next event, and appointments with clients. You can usually find me somewhere in Del Ray, whether it’s at the farmer’s market on a Saturday morning, volunteering at one of our many community events, hosting bourbon night, or walking our two golden retrievers (Kona & Maui).
