7 Things Our Raleigh, Durham, & Chapel Hill Editor is Loving Right Now

As advocates for small businesses, The Scout Guide editors are continually scouting their communities for local finds to share and celebrate. With their fingers on the pulse, they are also excellent sources for unique recommendations. Recently, we caught up with The Scout Guide Raleigh, Durham, & Chapel Hill editor Hopie Avery, to find out what she’s really excited about these days. Here, she shares her current obsessions, from her favorite hostess gifts to the sweet treat she constantly craves.

1. WHAT I’M COVETING

Spring Flowers | “Spring has sprung all around the Triangle area and mother nature is certainly showing off. On my current flower wish-list—iris, snowdrops, snowflakes, peonies, and viburnums! My recent visit to Lady Bird Johnson’s Wildflower Center really gave me bloom envy.”

2. WHERE I’M TRAVELING

Austin, Texas | “My family and I just returned from a trip to see family and friends in the fabulous city of Austin. The whole trip was one to remember but highlights included delish Tex-Mex at Torchy’s Tacos (we even have a location in Raleigh now!), taking in skyline views at Zilker Park, and visiting our friend’s new shop, the amazing Joint Detail (pictured above).

3. WHAT I’M PLANNING

Tickets to Dreamville Music Festival | “My son just attended this annual music festival held in Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh and raved about it. He can’t wait until next year and I’m thinking I should attend too after hearing about how fantastic it was.”

4. WHAT I’M GIFTING

Room & Linen Spray and Soy Candle by GoldLeaf Interior | “GoldLeaf proprietor Kelly Flanagin is such a fun and thoughtful designer, it’s no wonder her new lifestyle brand is the same. The beautiful custom scent of her spray and candle make it the perfect hostess gift.”

5. WHAT I’M EATING

Amy’s Ice Cream | “If you know, you know. This Texas-based ice cream’s specialty flavors are out of this world. No plans to be in Austin, Houston, or San Antonio anytime soon? Fear not–Amy’s ships nationwide.”

6. WHERE I’M SHOPPING

Fox & Bailey | “Located inside the Bailey’s Fine Jewelry’s Village District location, this new shop has the most incredible rare Rolexes, handmade gifts, Brackish bow ties, and a vintage record collection that’s second to none! There’s even a bourbon bar in the back so you can sip while you shop.”

7. WHERE I’M GOING

Junior League of Greensboro Designer Showhouse | “Growing up in Greensboro means I’ll always have a soft spot for the gorgeous homes there and this stunning historical home is no different. The group of interior designers working on this special space are the best of the best. And shout out to TSG Triad editor Ashley Powell Nosek who is on the committee helming this impressive project.”
