3 Elements to an Inviting Entryway

We all want our homes to make a good first impression, and while there aren’t hard and fast rules regarding what makes an inviting entryway, we find a few well thought out elements can make all the difference.

Spruce up with paint. A fresh coat of paint on your door can work wonders. Stick with your tried and true, or take this opportunity to try a bold new hue that echoes your personality. (While you’re at it, you might want to tackle the trim and shutters for good measure!)

Play with scale. Incorporating elements of varying heights keeps the eye moving and draws people in (and isn’t that the point of an entry?). Also, feel free to use planters, urns, and statuary in a multitude of shapes—matching is merely a matter of personal preference.

Have fun with function. Lighting is a must, and as your home’s first impression, the entrance deserves a lovely fixture that will stand the test of time. And don’t underestimate the power of a stately door knocker.
