Finding the Right White Paint Color

While achieving the perfect white wall might appear to be an easy task, with so many variations of the color to choose from, selecting the right white is actually quite a challenge. To help us whittle down the amount of time spent with the color wheel, we ask the experts at The Paint Shop in Warrenton, Virginia, to share a few of their favorite whites. Here are their recommendations:

  1. White Dove (Benjamin Moore) is fantastic for a trim color. It is a great alternative to white, being slightly warmer, and it seems to be versatile enough to pair nicely with almost all wall colors.
  2. Dimity (Farrow & Ball) is lovely for walls. It creates a nice glow and warmth without being too pink or yellow. It is reminiscent of old stucco walls, particularly if it is in the Estate Emulsion finish.
  3. Shaded White (Farrow & Ball) and Revere Pewter (Benjamin Moore) are both wonderful neutrals for walls. They are a good alternative to the typical off white and are a good backdrop for artwork.
  4. Cabbage White (Farrow & Ball) for ceilings gives a subtle feeling of pale blue sky. It is really successful with white crown moldings.
