Time Travel: Newport Inspiration

There’s been a lot of discussion in the news lately about how Instagram has instilled a strong feeling of fear of missing out among the desk-bound set. And while we’ve had our fair share of summer fun, we are not immune. Fortunately, TSG co-founder Susie Matheson offered to spend some time during her annual family trip to Newport, Rhode Island, capturing some inspirational images for us. Matheson has treated us to a peek at Beaulieu, her husband’s grandmother’s lovingly restored Newport retreat, before, but this time focused on the details that make the house so special. So while we’re still a little jealous, the eye candy is utterly transporting.

Above, a gorgeous rug, settee, and sconces are eclipsed by a beautiful portrait of the owner, who at 97 is truly the most inspirational aspect of Beaulieu.

There are no words to describe how incredible the molding is, so we’ll just let the photo speak for itself.Stunning mirrors  like the one shown above, left, reflect back the beauty of the house, which was decorated by the legendary Valerian Rybar. Throughout, chairs bearing amazing details beckon.

We are absolutely in love with the breakfast room. Can you imagine a better place to start the day?

How amazing is the light-filled bedroom? And everything about the space shown above, right makes us swoon.

Again, it’s really difficult to pick what we love most about this room, so we’ll just let it all sink in.

This space is simply dreamy. We can just imagine getting lost in conversation in the sitting area above and feeling like time is standing still.

Inspired by the beauty of Beaulieu, we browsed through the TSG network for pieces that gave us a similar sense of gilded-age glamour. Here are our favorite finds:
