Staff Picks: The Scout Guide Headquarters' Mother's Day Gift List

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, we asked the team at The Scout Guide Headquarters to share ideas for creative, thoughtful, and heartfelt gifts for the special moms in their lives (including themselves!). From the perfect present for an expectant mother to a cherished personalized gift that will be passed on to the next generation to a not-very-practical yet dreamy indulgence, here are TSG HQ’s 2017 Mother’s Day gift picks:

Emily Westlake, Editorial Director: “My mom entertains all the time, so I’m always on the lookout for pretty dishes, serving pieces, and linens that I think she’d like. The Pagoda monogrammed napkins and Greek key cocktail napkins from Amy Berry in Dallas, Texas, would be perfect for her summer parties.”

Christy Ford, Co-Founder: “For my first Mother’s Day, my husband, Ryan, gave me a vintage Rolex engraved with ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ and the date. It’s my favorite gift, and eventually it’ll be my son’s watch.”

Marigold Haske, Digital Marketing Manager: “One of my best friends is a mom to a three-year-old boy and is due to have twin girls next month! I think it would be fun to give her a gift box from City Girl Coffee, not only because she’ll need the caffeine, but because I love the company’s mission of supporting small, women-owned or women-managed farms around the world.”

Austin Alley, Graphic Designer: “My mom is the queen of statement earrings, and I know she’d love these beautiful marble-y blue ones from Mi Ossa in Charlottesville. When I was growing up we always shared (i.e. fought over) earrings, so I’d love to get a special pair just for her!”

Lily West, Managing Director: “I’ve always wanted to give someone the artisanal gift baskets from Cornerstone, in Wayne, Pennsylvania. My mother would love the 3-month seasonal subscription, which includes delicious cheese, charcuterie, tasting and pairing notes, and recipes!”

Heather Sieg, Editor, The Scout Guide Charlottesville: “I love how a birthstone makes something personal—without having to get something entirely custom made. For me, the perfect gift would be The Woods Fine Jewelry pink sapphire seeing eye pendant at eloise. I also love the Temple St. Clair Sorcerer locket with blue sapphire and diamonds from Lynne Goldman Elements.”

Susie Matheson, Co-Founder: “My personal pick would be Pratesi Bed Linens from Highcroft in Minneapolis for my bed. The last room in the house to ever get any attention is our master bedroom, and I love bed linens! This is such an indulgence—and totally not practical because I often sleep with not only my husband but 3 dogs and none of them vow to shower before bed. But maybe if I get them for Mother’s Day it will be a new rule.”

Kate Colfelt, Design and Production Manager: “I would love to treat my mom to a thrilling whitewater rafting excursion with Mad River Boat Trips in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She grew up going to Jackson in the summer but I have yet to visit and would love to spend some quality time with her tubing down the Snake River.”

Meg Dougherty, Franchise Development Manager: “My mom is the queen of snail mail, so for Mother’s Day I’m gifting her a beautiful return address stamp from The Hello Co. in Denver, Colorado. I’m thinking either the Signature or the Script.”
