7 Beautiful Swimming Pools

In anticipation of a holiday weekend spent lounging by the water, we felt inspired to take a virtual lap through some stunning swimming pools. First on our tour is the above project by Kirchhoff & Associates Architects in Palm Beach; refreshing, well-proportioned, and gorgeously situated among the lush surroundings, this Jupiter Island retreat is everything we look for in a poolside experience.

Having a focal point in the form of a leafy arch or folly at the end of the pool beautifully enhances the landscape and has the added benefit of creating an intimate poolside space. Left, Norfolk, Virginia’s Siska Aurand Landscape Architects has created a lovely place to sit between columns, while Birmingham-based Golightly Landscape Architects incorporated a cozy gazebo in the project featured above, right.

Who wouldn’t want to spend a summer day at the above pool in a project designed by Greenwich, Connecticut’s Anthony Minichetti Architect? The setup offers plenty of places to lounge in and around the water, and the foliage makes the area feel wonderfully private.

Again, Anthony Minichetti Architect presents a secluded area in which to relax. The carefully thought out landscape is elegant yet totally unfussy.

In another project by Norfolk, Virginia’s Siska Aurand Landscape Architects, the pool achieves many goals without appearing to take up too much space. There’s a lane for lap-swimming as well as areas for simply dangling your feet or sitting in the shallows—all located on a terrace that offers a variety of prime seating areas.

You can almost feel the sun just looking at this space by V Fine Homes in Fort Worth. The clean lines and pared down palette of the house and landscape make the area feel sophisticated and calm—a perfect setting for evening cocktails or enjoying a cool dip.
