Our Favorite Looks from the Ali MacGraw for Ibu Runway Show

We are longtime fans of Ibu Movement, the Charleston, South Carolina-based collective founded by Susan Hull Walker that designs and produces gorgeous clothes and accessories crafted from female artisans all over the world. Last week, Ibu celebrated a major milestone that will introduce the line to many more women near and far with the debut of “ali4ibu,” a collaborative collection with actress and style icon Ali MacGraw featuring 85 unique and beautiful boho chic designs handcrafted in 23 countries.

Launching with a packed runway premiere in the Cigar Factory in Charleston, the line offers stunning pieces including embroidered jackets, brightly patterned tunics, and textural accessories that are perfect for summer. Luminaries and stylish locals including tastemaker Carolyne Roehm and our very own TSG Charleston Editor Courtney Brown were in attendance, and by the time the show started it was standing room-only.

What we love most about Ibu’s garments is that they are as statement-making and soulful as they are wearable. Walker’s appreciation for textiles and her respect for the women behind them come through in every piece Ibu produces, and radiate throughout Ibu’s flagship King Street store (a must-visit during any trip to the Holy City). MacGraw shares Walker’s passion for supporting female artisans, making the new collaboration a meeting of the minds, with MacGraw putting her personal touch on Ibu pieces.

As part of the collection’s debut, MacGraw, who has served as an Ambassador for the brand, has appeared at trunk shows in Greenwich, Connecticut, and New York City, and will travel to the Hamptons, Dallas, Texas, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Those who can’t make it to any of the locations, take heart: pieces from the ali4ibu line are available online here. But don’t wait too long to browse—many pieces are already sold out.
