About TSG Kansas City Editor Cathryn Farley:
Cathryn Farley is a homegrown Kansas City native. She attended Blue Springs High School, graduated from William Jewell College with a major in psychology, and completed her masters in marketing at Webster University.
In 2006, Cathryn started her own commercial photography business and has spent the past 10 years helping businesses achieve a cohesive visual message. She is thrilled to use The Scout Guide to promote the tribe of dedicated small business owners in her hometown. As a photographer, she appreciates the beautiful visual imagery that goes into TSG. As editor, Cathryn loves meeting so many daring, amazing, creative people who have such a passion for Kansas City.
When she’s not working, Cathryn spends the majority of her free time with her husband, Kyle, and their three amazing children. She also loves to scope out local activities, take yoga classes, read, travel, and enjoy a glass of wine (or two).
Cathryn’s three favorite reasons to visit Kansas City:
- The Vibes. “The spirit of Kansas City and the pride we have is infectious!”
- The Activities.“From the West Bottoms and Crossroads to the Plaza and River Market, there are so many places to have adventures. There’s always so much to do—whether you’re in the mood for cheering on the Kansas City Royals, attending a First Friday, or going to a concert down at Power and Light.”
- The Food. “We have so many local chefs and eateries doing amazing things from making delicious barbeque to distilling their own liquor. Our farmers’ markets are filled with fresh produce grown locally and our bakeries will have your sweet tooth singing.”
Words Cathryn lives by:
