Guest Curator: Erica Hanks's Favorite Picks for Spring 2017

Now that we’ve had a few weeks of spring cleaning to get our closets in shape, it’s time to update the contents with items that will keep us looking current throughout the coming months. To help us focus our search for new spring attire, we asked Charlotte, North Carolina-based stylist Erica Hanks to share her favorite looks for the season. Here are her picks, along with our suggestions for where to find pieces that embody the trends locally throughout the TSG network:

One-shoulder tops. I’m a huge fan of the one shoulder look, and I love that so many designers are embracing this romantic trend. Get the look with the Rosie Assoulin one-shoulder top featured above from 20twelve in Memphis, Tennessee.

Stripes. Stripes are nothing new for spring or summer, but the way you wear it can make it feel fresh for the season. I love this Missoni skirt—it’s super fun and just makes you feel happy wearing it. Get the look with the Rosie Assoulin Melted Rainbow A-Line Skirt available from Vermillion in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Statement earrings. I really love Rebecca de Ravenel’s six-drop ombre earring over the three-drop version we are seeing everywhere. And the citrus ombre is on point as another trend for spring. Get the look with Navy ombre gumball drop earrings available from Tuckernuck in Washington, D.C.

Fun Sunnies. Thierry Lasry makes amazing sunnies, and the three tones in the sunglasses along with the stripe detail give them interest but keep them subtle enough to go with everything you want to wear. Get the look with N°21 sunglasses available from Clover in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Embroidery. The laid back boho vibe that’s been happening in the last few seasons has brought a resurgence in embroidered pieces. I love the embroidery in the Lizzie Fortunato clutch from Kirna Zabete, which can take even a jeans and t-shirt look to the next level. Get the look with the Lizzie Fortunato Port of Call Clutch in Cubist Vase available from Hampden in Charleston, South Carolina.

Metallics. Metallic is not a new trend, so I always look for different ways to wear it to keep it exciting. Erdem is one of my favorites, and I love how this vest has such a cool metallic pattern and can be worn so many different ways. Get the look with the 120% Lino Embroidered Tie Side Top available from Marissa Collections in Naples, Florida.

Gingham. Gingham is back! If the pattern is too much for you to wear all over, try a subtle pattern in a heeled shoe like the Alexandre Birman Gingham sandal. It can add interest to a variety of looks, and is perfect for summer. If you decide to embrace the trend all over, get the look with the Altuzarra gingham ruffle dress available from Capitol in Charlotte, North Carolina.
