Give Outside of the Box, Part 2 2015

Thinking outside of the box can lead to some pretty spectacular gift-giving. Last week, we explored some ideas for people who love to improve their landscapes; today, we’re highlighting presents for the adventure-inclined. Perfect for those who seem to have everything, any of the following gifts would be an excellent choice for someone who enjoys new experiences:

1. A stylish ride. Whether you’re seven or sixty-seven, a brand new bicycle is a tough gift to beat. San Antonio’s Bike World carries a range of lines and styles sure to fit any recipient. A bonus for locals: They also provide guided tours to places of interest.

2. A birds-eye view. A breathtaking tour of beautiful summits by air? Yes, please. Fly Jackson Hole offers a variety of private scenic flights that anyone on your gift list would fancy, so start planning a trip to Wyoming now.

3. A place to paddle. Undeniably fun and a great way to stay fit, paddle boarding provides an opportunity to explore areas from a unique vantage point. Greenville, South Carolina-based Invert SUP produces beautifully designed eco-friendly boards that would be an excellent present for anyone who enjoys being out on the water.

4. A culinary treat. For lovers of delicious cuisine, wine, and cocktails, a trip to Charleston for the Charleston Wine + Food festival, which takes place March 2 – 6, would make an ideal gift (see highlights from our time at last year’s festival here!). In case you need any extra incentive, TSG will be hosting two wonderful events at the fest: Life of the Party: All Things Entertaining with Tara Guérard, a garden party on Friday, March 4, and Fried Chicken for the Southern Soul, a Southern luncheon that will take place at Cannon Green and feature libations from our co-sponsor, Veuve Clicquot, on Saturday, March 5.

5. A wildlife sighting. A safari is a trip of a lifetime. A safari on horseback, which allows you to be up close and personal with the animals and landscape, is the ultimate experience. Wild at Heart Journeys can make that dream come true for the animal lover in your life.

6. A day on the river. Some may argue that a day spent fishing is the ultimate pastime. If that sounds like someone on your gift list, Great Outdoor Provision Co.’s recommended guided fishing trips could be the perfect fit. Throw in some gear and you’ll have one happy recipient.

7. A trip down the rapids. Few activities are as well suited to the adventurous as rafting. Aspen-based Elk Mountain Expeditions offers full and half-day trips on the Roaring Fork or Arkansas Rivers at different difficulty levels, any of which are sure to be memorable.
